These new portable and desktop solutions are HFS+ formatted out-of-the-box, making them fully compatible with Apple Time Machine backup software, while maintaining the ability to work across both Windows and Mac OS X computers. It could be a Seagate thing, but I wanted to see if anyone on the Forums had experienced a similar problem with any networked storage.Īt this rate I'm going to take the GoFlex back and try WD, but fear this may be an ongoing problem.Addressing the personal preferences of the Mac community, Seagate introduced a new collection of GoFlex for Mac external drives designed to make it easy for those who use Mac OS X and Time Machine to backup, shuttle, or share their digital content. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me since we've exhausted all the standard solutions. Seagate have tried a lot of different things to troubleshoot without result. My MBP is wirelessly connected to my home network, although as part of Seagate's Tech Support troubleshooting I have also tried direct ethernet connection. The GoFlex and the LaCie ED mini are connected to my home network via ethernet cable to my ISP's standard issue router - Netgear DG934G.

This privileges issue seems to be the root cause. I successfully FTP-ed the files across, however this is a short-term fix and other problems occur when using iTunes and Time Machine to back up. I have approx 300GB of media files on the LaCie to transfer, so using the GoFlex internet upload utility is out of the question - unless I want to lose my sanity.

I don't have this problem with the LaCie, but they both run Hipserv administration software.

I just get an error message saying I do not have the right privileges to perform the action. The main issue is that the GoFlex drive will not allow dragging and dropping files to it from Finder. Seagate GoFlex Mac family CES 2011 Seagate launched a new collection of GoFlex for Mac external drives specifically designed to be used with OS X and Time Machine. I currently have a networked LaCie ethernet disk mini home edition, which works fine except the AC power brick has a tendency to fail and is expensive to replace, hence the switch. I'm looking for any advice or suggestions to resolve an issue I am having with file transfer using a newly purchased 1TB Seagate GoFlex Home network storage solution.
